OCTOBER 2009 Malaysian Indian Business Association with MBPJ Made PJ’s Inaugral Deepavali Bazaar A Reality

Malaysian Indian Business Association (MIBA), Selangor, a local non-profit organization seeking to encourage and help local Indian businesses organised their inaugural Deepavali fair titled- MIBA SEL Deepavali Bazaar 2009 with the support of Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya.

The Bazaar held from 7th – 16th October 2009 at Taman Sri Manja situatued in Jalan Kelang Lama. Officiated by YB Dr Xavier Jayakumar, Selangor State EXCO member, the bazaar hosted more than 30 entrepreneurs who sold all Deepavali essentials from food to house decorations.

"The bazaar was a dream of ours to encourage local Indian businessmen to expand their business reach. Deepavali fairs are usually held in KL or Klang and with this Bazaar we brought it closer to the residents of Petaling Jaya. And we would like to thank Mr. Selva, the local councilor for this strong effort and support in making this possible," said Mr. Gopinath, Chairman of MIBA Selangor.

"The Old Klang Road area is a place with a huge population and the State government is glad to have worked alongside MIBA Selangor in getting a Deepavali Bazaar for that area. For each festivity we hope to fulfill the community needs through such activities," said Dr. Xavier.

"We are happy that we are receiving such a great support from the MBPJ, State government and the members of MIBA to have made this Bazaar a successful one. Our plans will definitely get bigger for the coming years with demands from the visitors and our member base which is growing constantly," the Chairman added.
